When a song has a title like Hands Up, it feels like an invitation to have a bit of fun with the choreography!
This dance is set to Jelly Roll's Hands Up and was created as a beginner-level, 32-count dance. I enjoy exploring how the music can shape the movements and how to create a dance that feels enjoyable from the first step to the last.
By this stage in my choreography journey, I was becoming more comfortable with taking a song and trying out ideas. Not every step works straight away, and sometimes you have to try a few combinations before the dance starts to take shape.
Hands Up was published in July 2026. It was also one of the dances I had in mind for a choreography competition, although the competition plans didn't quite work out as expected.
That's the thing with dancing and life in general. You can make plans, but sometimes the timing doesn't line up. The dance still exists, though, and there's no reason not to enjoy it on the floor.
