November was packed with laughs, music, and a little bit of spookiness.
Our November line dance party theme was Halloween. You can imagine my surprise when Bex walked in fresh off the plane from her USA trip! Boydy, Vic, Sahmara, and I kicked right off by making our own Halloween pumpkins – don’t worry, no one was harmed in the process. I was super stoked that hubby came along and even dressed up for the occasion. He even managed another go at Wagon Wheel – slowly but surely converting him to a line dancer!
Early in the month, I had the joy of teaching line dancing for a Hens party. So many laughs, and honestly, they were really good – look out, town, when these ladies hit the dance floor!
The month was also all about preparation for the Dunedin Line Dance Gala in February. Not only were we practising our Necklace Group Dance, but we also started on the other 90-odd improver, intermediate, and advanced dances that will be played over the three days. Some of them are real challenges, and it really drove home just how much time and practice it takes to learn and teach higher-level dances. Hats off to all the instructors who do this week in, week out!
We wrapped up November with an early Line Dance Christmas party at the Cabana, with Gone Country playing. Bex and I also took a trip to Mahanga to teach line dancing at a friend’s 60th birthday celebration. Dancing in the open under the night sky, with kids and adults of all ages joining in, was truly magical.
Reflection: Time flies, perseverance counts, and even things that seem hard get easier with practice.
