I missed the October party as I was in Tauranga learning but got to hang out there with the Tauranga Line Dancers, it reminded me how challenging it is to learn so many dances in a short space of time!
Back home, October was packed with performances and adventures. We danced at the Hawke’s Bay A & P Show in front of thousands of people, and it was such a joy to see a few young girls jump on stage to perform a dance they’d learned at a pop-up lesson the previous week that Emily had taken for their rowing club. The mechanical bull also made an appearance – I got thrown off spectacularly and ended up with broken ribs (if only they had let us ride on the Merry Go Round!).
Podcasts kept rolling, with episodes featuring Phoenix Adamson (line dancing across NZ), Claire from Cherry Steppers in Perth, Nathan (Clive Bootscootin superstar), and Lorna Williams discussing the 2026 Line Dance Gala, which I’m super excited to attend, and even going to be dancing in the Clubs Competition with Bex, Emily, Sahmara and Nathan to their song Necklace.
We road-tripped to Kawerau for a line dancing weekend with Tracey, Vic and Natha from Clive Bootscootin – the Town Hall Venue was stunning, and it was fantastic reconnecting with friends Kiri and KC from our earlier Whakatāne trip. We wrapped up another 5-week absolute beginner series. I love seeing everyone progress and it's amazing how quickly they are learning the steps and danes.
Reflection: Love dancing, love friendships and fun.... and don't get on a mechanical bull!
