September kicked off with our Friday theme party of wear something you wouldn’t normally wear. I had so much fun dressing up in my 80s-inspired outfit – boots and all! This month we mastered Footloose, and Bex and I choreographed Stomping Ground to Hayley Jensen’s track, which was a total blast.
The month really picked up with Clive Bootscootin’s 2nd birthday celebrations. We danced with line dancers from across the lower North Island – it all started with the pre-party party, such an amazing night that won't be forgotten! That morning we had a flash mob at the Hastings Blossom Festival and so many of the dancers that came to the party were there. The energy was incredible! We then danced our way to The Olde Saloon / Black Betty BBQ, and danced an Irish Pub Song outside the Irish pub.
Other highlights included celebrating finally having hubby learn a line dance at Bex's hubby Ryan’s birthday celebrations, and recording podcasts with amazing people: Manita from High Tide Hoedown in Mount Maunganui, Chris Brocklesby (founder of Linedance NZ), and Maggie Li, our very own NZ WDM world champ.
Reflection: September reminded me that line dancing is about connection, creativity, and celebrating every step – and that every party is more fun with friends.
