After a dry July, August swung the other way – and oh boy, was it full fun! We kicked off with a Double Denim Friday Night Party, followed the very next morning by a road trip for Country Brunch in Wellington. While there, Bex and I interviewed Christine Stewart from Silver Lining for the podcast – another chance to connect with incredible people in the line dance world.
Back home, the month was a blur of music and milestones:
Friday night at The Clive with Gone Country (Clive Bootscootin’s very own band!)
Our first 'performance' done for the Brazillian Community, followed up by dancing with Gone Country at Jarks where we celebrated Tracy's birthday
A night at Paisley Stage to celebrate Nathan's birthday
Dancing at The Cabana with a country music DJ to celebrate my birthday
Bex, Janelle, Vic, Tracy, Denise and I took a road trip for the Feilding Line Dance Social – which just so happened to fall on my actual birthday. That made it even more special! We had so many laughs along the way, topped off with a birthday bevvie at the Rongotea Local. My not-so-excellent GPS skills steered us into Palmerston North on the way home… but it turned out perfectly as we finished the day with a delicious Indian meal.
And the biggie? I released my very first dance – “Don’t Wanna Dance.”
If that wasn't enough excitement, Emily also released her fantastic beginner dance, Texas Time, and Nathan & Sahmara dropped Necklace, which flows so beautifully and really makes me smile. Pauline also shared new choreo at her place in Gisborne – talk about inspiration overload.
The month finished with the Rhythm ’n’ Lines “This Ain’t Texas” fundraiser in Gisborne – so much Beyoncé, so much sass (or was that ass), and so much FUN.
Reflection:
Birthdays are best spent dancing, laughing, and getting a little bit lost with friends – because sometimes detours make the sweetest memories.
