March started with our line dancing theme dress up gathering, this month's theme was 'wear something that starts with R' – I went as Richie McCaw NZ rugby player and ex All Blacks.
It also saw my goal of instructing come to fruition, with Bex away on holiday overseas I nervously stepped up. My stomach was in knots – I didn’t want to let anyone down of course, and we all have to start somewhere. A shoutout to Yoka for her support with the classes during this time, and all the line dancers who stuck with me as I worked my way through how to deliver a line dance versus dancing a line dance.
I truly love our Tuesday sessions, seeing everyone progress, especially those who were like me on day one – with two left feet. We love it when Bex “drops in,” I’m pretty sure she’s totally not checking up on us!... And we do love it especially as it means that she can take a more higher level beginner dance and that in turn builds my confidence to be able to teach the harder dances too.
Mid-month, I hit the road again – this time with Rhys, Maree’s partner – for a trip to Auckland to see Cody Johnson. The concert was on fire. I even attempted to line dance to ’Til You Can’t mid-show, though as I’ve said before winesies and line dancing for me are not the best combo for remembering steps!

Change (growth) happens outside your comfort zone, so take a leap because sometimes the scariest opportunities end up becoming the most rewarding.
